short summary of my experience with lego

My journey with lego started at 1 year old (primo), later i moved on to duplo. At the age of 4 or 5 I inherited my mom's (regural system) lego collection, which consisted of many sets from the 80s. Me being a kid predictably led to being given lego sets for birthdays and christmases by my family. Watching large sorted collection tours of lego collectors on Youtube (mainly Jangbricks's collection) made me want to sort my small humble collection too (which was at that point sorted into 5 colour categories + 1 for the 'special' pieces). To fulfill my dream of having my collection sorted, I used many shoeboxes, hand-made cardboard containers, screw organizers and anything I could find around the house. This resulted in a mess of lego parts sorted in many different ways in containers and organizers of many different sizes.

This way, I slowly became more of a collector/enthusiast than a casual set-builder. My interest in lego and expanding + sorting my collection persists to this day.

Instead of collecting sets or minifigures, I was always more interested in special and rare colours of pieces and individual parts.

As somebody who doesn't have a lot of money to spend on lego, and since I'm more interested in older parts rather than the new ones, I prefer to buy used collections from other people.

rare black windows from 1980 (and 1983) train sets

(id 29), 1x1x2 are the rare and expensive ones. used value: $27, came in 2 sets, I own 3 of them! :D

(id 7026), 1x2x2 one is less valuable (as it came in 4 sets instead of 2), used value: $10.3.

fun fact: the larger one has fixed glass, the thinner ones don't come with glass

total value (bottom picture on left) should be around $90+.

technic piece

rare white technic piece from set 8880

(id 6543), 'Technic Stick Shift Plate' only appeared in the iconic 'super car' set from 1994.

looks new, estimated value:$25-$30, maybe more

found in a small classic technic bulk, I noticed it in seller's picture.

sand red

sand red parts from set 7314-1

Sand red, every lego enthusiast's favourite colour, estimated average value per piece is around $1.

Each one of these is from life on mars 7314-1 set, this is important because there aren't many other sets that contain any significant amount of sand red parts, I'm probably missing some parts from the set though. these are all of my sand-red parts I own at the time of writing this.

sp066 sp066
sp066 sp066

sp066 promo? figure from 1997

This minifigure looks just like sp044, except it has the lego logo on the back, seems to be very rare, it didn't come in any sets. Mine is sadly scratched.

It's NOT from a keychain, it can be taken apart, the torso is the only part exclusive to the minifigure.

There are 2 more variants of minifigures from 1997-1998 themes (indian chief, and Johny Thunder), that have a the lego logo on back, and didn't come in any sets.

at the time of writing this, I noticed one seller selling 14 indian chiefs with the logo on the back.

thanks to this information, I can now safely guess that they were likely given out at legoland parks as promo figures at some point in the late 90s, probably internationally considering that sellers on bricklink are from all around the world.

the sp066 seems to be the rarest out of the 3. Because there are way less (at this point none actually) of them for sale compared to the other 2.

When I first acquired this fig, i think there were 2 on sale(or sold, I'm not sure) on bricklink, one new for $180 and one used for I think $90. On brickset, the value for a new one is listed at $200, and used at $6.5, though I doubt it's worth this little, brickset seems to be getting it's value data from bricklink, which shows that it was sold once for $6.5 in the last 6 months(at the time of writing this) which was probably an error by the seller, because of how similiar sp066 and sp044 are, and also taking into consideration the values of the other 2 figs. I also found this website which had one on sale for $100.

my estimate on the value of this minifigure, in this condition is $75-100. Keep in mind that the only rare part is just the torso, which is in a way better condition than the rest of the minifigure, so the head and legs could potentially be swapped out.

brittle blue parts

Brittle blue is a colour like no other, it's not an official TLG colour, more of an error than anything.

The thing about brittle blue is that it's quite brittle (yeah, shocker right?), it's also consistently darker than regural blue, over the years I managed to collect a small batch of these parts.

top picture 1x4 plate is regural blue.

bottom picture shows a clearer difference. The colours (from left) are: [TLG 23] blue, brittle blue, [TLG 140] dark blue
